From Argentina To The World
This full-price series on EMI leans towards "for export" style recordings from the late 1950s. The De Angelis disc is a great cd and very popular, and we aim to also stock the disc from Troilo although nobody buys it. We have also been able to obtain the cds of Canaro and the Sexteto Mayor - the others are deleted.

Raúl GarelloEMI 494431Raúl Garello made some very exciting sides in the 50s - you can hear an example of his work on the EMI Hemisphere album The Story of Tango. Anibal TroiloEMI 494432In 1957, after six years with TK, Troilo joined Odeón with whom he would record 24 sides over a two year period. EMI have three different CDs covering this period, all with the regulation 20 tracks, so no complete record is available. This is the only one with all six of the instrumentals. Troilo would record nearly all of these again in 1963 on the Troilo for Export album (included on the first RCA Victor 100 Años Troilo disc) but this was the last time he would record Inspiración, and the other instrumentals here sound fresher and even more exciting than their 1960s counterparts. The malambo Malón de Ausenica is also tremendous fun. Track ListQuejas de Bandoneón; Un Boliche; La Última; Danzarín; La Vuelta del Montonero; Lo Que Vos Te Mereces; Retirao; La Calesita; Barrio Pobre; Marinera; Inspiración; Pa' Lo Que Te Va A Durar; Te Llaman Malevo; La Bordona; Ni Más Ni Menos; El Metejón; Lo Que Vendrá; Malón de Ausenica malambo; Aquel Tapado de Armino Cantan:Goyeneche (6,9,12,16,19); Cárdenas (2,3,5,10,13,15,20); duo Goyeneche - Cárdenas (8,18) |

Osvaldo PuglieseEMI 837857This album of Pugliese instrumentals is very much an album of two halves. The first gives us the great '50s instrumentals we love so much, and the second gives us '70s performances intended more for the concert platform. Whilst some of these have become standards, following hard on the heels of each other the music can take on a relentless quality. A good choice if fidelity is your primary consideration (or if you like Color Tango) but otherwise better stick to the instrumentales inolvidables albums on Reliquias. Track ListEmancipación; A mis compañeros; Orgullo criollo; Nochero soy; Pata ancha; Gente amiga; La bordona; Que pinturita; Gallo ciego; A los amigos; Tinta roja; La beba; El andariego; La revancha; Ojos negros; Arrabal; Malena; Quejas de bandoneón; El día que me quieras; Los mareados |
