Teaching
Michael Lavocah is a highly experienced tango teacher and dancer (16 years), regularly invited to dance camps in England and the Netherlands.
His teaching emphasizes dancing as a natural and joyful activity, focussing on musicality and body awareness.
He knows tango music inside out and brings this depth of knowledge into his lessons with humour, simplicity and clarity.
Michael also works internationally as a tango DJ.
His website milonga.co.uk is a great resource for everything you want to know about tango music.
As well as working within tango, Michael has been playing and teaching Tai Chi for 20 years and is a craniosacral therapist in private practice. These fields inform and enhance his approach to the body within tango dance.
Partners
Siobhan Richards has danced Argentine tango for more than 10 years and since 2007 has taught with several partners under the name of her school Las Rosas del Tango.
Besides her tango school she is also a body psychotherapist in private practice.
Her teaching focusses on the connection between the dancers and with the music, and a subtlety of movement that comes from relaxing into the dance.
Yvonne Meissner has danced Argentine tango for more than 20 years and his been teaching since 1994.
She loves Buenos Aires and has spent more time out there than anyone else I know.
Her experience as a teacher is vast.
She toured internationally
first with Pocho Pizarro and then with Eduardo Aguirre, who became her life partner.
Yvonne is just crazy about dancing with the music and with a deep respect for the dance's roots.
Argentinian Tango frequently is associated with passion... The reality in Buenos Aires gives us a very different impression. Tenderness and just body communication is an essential means of expression in daily life in Argentina. A touch is aimed at listening to the response and feedback of the other person, showing respect for the feelings of the other. There, tango functions as a way of tender communication in general and starts with a decisive, elegant way of walking and overall awareness and physical presence in space.
