An intriguing look at the early work of the best known mambo bandleader of all time. Prado's later work was slick, but these recordings are freshly cut and still rough at the edges. The brass blares, Prado makes mistakes on the keyboard, but none of it matters. Marvellous stuff

This cd mostly presents recordings made with the orchestra of her brother Pablo Peregrino in 1958; the remaining tracks are from the first half of the fifties with various orchestras, including Orquesta Rafael de Paz, which also accompanied Beny Moré.
